BANGOR NEW MUSIC FESTIVAL




The William Mathias Composition Prize 2013
The prize is organised by the Bangor New Music Festival, which is committed to encouraging composers and to the promotion of new music. This year's prize will be offered for a worl for flute (doubling piccolo and/or alto), viola, cello and piano. It should last between 6 and 10 minutes; there are no restrictions in terms of style.

Works selected from the submissions will be performed by Psappha during the morning workshop on Thursday 14 March 2013 at Powis Hall, Bangor University as a part of the Bangor New Music Festival. Composers of the selected compositions are required to be present and to participate in the workshop. One prize-winning piece will then be selected for the evening concert on the same day. The announcement of the restult and the presentation will take place during the evening concert.

The prize consists of the following:
- a cheque for £500
- a professional performance by Psappha during the Bangor New Music Festival
- a recording of the work (for personal use only)
- a commission for Bangor New Music Festival in 2014 (worth up to £1,000)

Submission procedures:
Only the title of the piece (and NOT the composer's name) should appear on the score. Any entries with a name on hte score will be automatically disqualified. A sealed envelope giving the following information shall accompany each composition:

Inside - the title of the piece, the composer's full name, address, email address and telephone number.
Outside - the title of the piece only.
Closing date: 5pm, Friday 21 January 2013
